Carpetweed
Mollugo verticillata

Most turf weeds will adjust their habits of growth to close mowing. Carpetweed grows naturally flat and horizontal to the ground. This characteristic is normal to plants that live in dry or barren areas. Carpetweed is slow to germinate, but spreads rapidly in hot weather. Its many branches radiate from a single taproot. Slender leaves are arranged like the spokes of a wheel around all of the nodes. Small greenish-white flowers rise from the leaf axils. Carpetweed is of tropical origin, but grows vigorously almost everywhere.
