The Department of Soil & Crop Sciences at Texas A&M University offers undergraduate and graduate degrees in Plant and Environmental Soil Science with an emphasis in Crops, Soil & Water, and Turfgrass Science. Students majoring in Turfgrass Science have the opportunity to study in many of the same areas as Plant and Environmental Soil Science Majors including Soil Science, Crop Biology, Physiology, Water, Ecology, and Pest Management. Students with degrees in Turfgrass Science often move into rewarding, successful internships and careers in various sectors of the green industry including golf course management, athletic field management, landscaping, agri-chemical sales or distribution, sports field construction, and others.
Texas A&M University students in the Turfgrass Science program have recently participated in internships at the Washington Nationals, The Club at Carlton Woods, Shadow Hawk Golf Club, the Cincinnati Bengals and others.
Turfgrass Volunteer Efforts
Texas A&M University Turfgrass students also volunteered with the grounds crew at the 2015 Shell Houston Open in Humble, Texas where they participated in PGA tournament preparations and setup for a 2015 tour event.
